On a trip to the U.P. in September of 2010 I lost myself in a foray along back roads, back home. A couple of years ago
at a barn conference someone had commented, “It’s a shame there are no more wood stave silos or log barns in Michigan.”
I wish I could find the person who said that because dozens of miles and some 400 images later I can happily prove that
there are many wood stave silos and several log barns just in Menominee County alone. There are also a few cordwood structures,
a wide array of ethnic barns and an equal variety of types of silos. Here are just a few images from that wonderful adventure.
